
APUB DELEGATION PAYS COURTESY CALL ON NEWLY APPOINTED UGC CHAIRMAN
A delegation of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, at the UGC Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka today.
The APUB delegation, led by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of APUB, warmly congratulated Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed on his appointment and presented him with a bouquet of flowers and a congratulatory letter as tokens of goodwill.
The delegation included Mr. Benajir Ahmed, Vice Chairman; Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Secretary General; Mr. Qayum Reza Chowdhury, Treasurer; Mr. Faruque Hassan, Executive Committee Member; Mr. Lutfe M. Ayub, Executive Committee Member; Mr. Nowshad Shamsul Arefin, Executive Committee Member; and Mr. Abul Quasem Haider, Executive Committee Member.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed various issues related to the development of private higher education in Bangladesh. Emphasis was placed on strengthening collaboration between the UGC and private universities to enhance academic standards, promote research initiatives, and improve global competitiveness.
The UGC Chairman expressed his appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the significant role of private universities in expanding access to higher education. He assured the delegation of his full support in addressing key challenges and working collaboratively for the overall advancement of the sector.
Dr. Mohammad Fakhrul Islam, Secretary of the UGC, and Mr. Belal Ahmed, Director of the APUB Secretariat, were also present at the meeting.
The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, reflecting a shared commitment to the development of higher education in Bangladesh.
